Manchester City supporters worrying about Fernandinho being able to seek new employers next month can rest easy.
It has emerged the central midfielder's contract does not run out at the end of this season - but in 2018 instead.
City fans thought they faced the prospect of potentially losing Fernandinho on a free transfer, yet his current deal at the Etihad Stadium is up in 18 months and not six as widely accepted.
The Brazilian would have been able to talk with foreign clubs next month about a move in the summer had his contract been drawing to a close.
