Fernandinho could become one of Pep Guardiola's assistants at Manchester City, says president of Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro who are desperate to land veteran midfielder when his contract at the Etihad expires this summer

Fernandinho has been offered a role on Pep Guardiola's coaching staff at Manchester City when his contract expires in the summer, according to a director at Atletico Mineiro.

The 35-year-old City captain has been linked with a move to the Brazilian club when he leaves City but Rodrigo Caetano suggested he could remain at the Etihad Stadium in another capacity.

The defensive midfielder has started just five Premier League and two Champions League games this season with most of his 19 appearances coming off the bench.
