Tianjin Quanjian manager Fabio Cannavaro has admitted making an approach for Wayne Rooney but says he will not be signed because he doesn't suit their style of play.
Rooney's time at United seems over after growing unhappy with his reduced role under Jose Mourinho. He has an offer worth £35m-a-year from the Chinese Super League, whose transfer window closes on Tuesday, but Cannavaro says talk of a move to his side was merely 'chit-chat'.
The 2006 World Cup winner added he would rather sign Nikola Kalinic, the former Blackburn striker now at Fiorentina, than the Manchester United and England captain and also had an attempt to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund turned down.
