The Football Association has changed its stance on safe standing – in a significant move which will ramp up further pressure on the government for a change in legislation.
It is understood that chief executive Martin Glenn has taken note of the Premier League's willingness to look into the issue and wants the association to follow suit.
The FA had been previously reluctant to consider the return of standing at top flight grounds given the emotiveness of the situation.
However, the latest chief executive officer's report to the FA council, penned by Glenn and seen by Sportsmail, makes note of the Premier League's stance on the issue and points out that the top flight has decided to open discussions with the relevant authorities around its potential introduction.
