The Football League has told Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries that the financial gap between the Premier League and EFL is becoming a 'chasm'.
In a letter seen by Sportsmail, EFL chairman, Rick Parry, spells out the threat posed to Championship and lower league clubs by the 'catastrophic inequality' between the 'unimaginable wealth' of the top flight, and the rest of the English football pyramid.
Parry paints a bleak picture in which he predicts an 'unending hand to mouth existence' for clubs outside the Premier League, if the game's finances are not 'reset'.
The chairman also reveals there has been no discussion with the Premier League about a new financial distribution in the game, despite it being requested in the Government's Fan-Led Review of Football, published in November.
