Every Premier League club must appoint a coronavirus officer as part of new hygiene rules amid talks over Project Restart

Premier League clubs must appoint an official coronavirus officer as part of new look hygiene protocols.

A new draft of the top-flight’s original seven-page hygiene guideline document, which has been seen by Sportsmail, has now been sent to clubs and players.

One of the key amendments to the document calls for clubs to ‘identify an individual as the Designated COVID-19 officer’ who will be responsible for ‘devising and administering the COVID-19 operational policy’.

The document states that the person appointed should be a senior employee who holds the appropriate qualifications or experience in health and safety - but not a member of the club’s medical staff.
