Everton 'in positive talks with left back Lucas Digne over new long-term deal at the club' in blow to Manchester City's hopes of landing the Frenchman in January

Everton have reportedly opened talks with Lucas Digne about a new contract at the club and talks are progressing well to tie the left back down to a long-term deal.

The Frenchman, who has been out of action since November 22, is out of contact in the summer of 2023 following the five-year deal he signed upon moving to the Toffees from Barcelona two-and-a-half years ago.

But amid links with Manchester City as the January transfer window gets going, Carlo Ancelotti is keen to extend the 27-year-old's contract at Goodison Park and negotiations are going well, according to the Liverpool Echo.
