Martin O'Neill says he will be calling Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton before he does Ronald Koeman - but he has invited the Everton boss to get in touch in a bid to settle their lingering club-versus-country row.
Ireland assistant Roy Keane said on Tuesday that he 'couldn't care less' about the opinion of Koeman after he accused O'Neill of risking the fitness of James McCarthy, the Everton midfielder who played in all but nine minutes of last month's World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova despite having missed the previous six weeks with a groin strain.
McCarthy - now sidelined with a hamstring problem - withdrew from the squad for Saturday night's match against Austria here in Vienna after being urged to do so by Koeman.
