Arsenal's majority owner Stan Kroenke has suggested the club will keep Arsene Wenger until they reclaim the Premier League title.
The club confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Wenger had signed a two-year extension to keep him at the Emirates until the end of 2019.
The 67-year-old's time in charge at the club had looked in danger of ending during a season which saw the club miss out on Champions League football for the first time since 1997 amid growing supporter unrest and protests aimed at their manager.
However, Wenger has ridden out the storm, and Kroenke's comments have given reason to believe he could be in office until the club's mission is accomplished.
