Dimitri Payet admits 'regrets' over forcing West Ham exit and accepts fans 'hate me as much as they loved me' after returning to Marseille

Dimitri Payet is not surprised West Ham fans 'hate me as much as they loved me' after the France international went on strike to force through a £25million return to Marseille in January.

Payet signed a five-year contract worth £125,000-a-week in February 2016, during a campaign where he help propel West Ham to a seventh-place finish with 12 goals.

But this season, West Ham have struggled to replicate such prodigious form at the London Stadium and at one point, seemed threatened by relegation.
