David Warner says witnessing families in India cremating their loved ones on the street as the cricket team boarded their tour bus was 'terrifying' – after fleeing to a luxury island on a repatriation flight

David Warner was 'terrified' witnessing people in India building funeral pyres to cremate their relatives during the Covid crises that devastated the country.

He and other cricketers, along with commentators, coaches and support staff were part of a 37-strong Australian contingent in the country for the Indian Premier League.

The competition was postponed in May as the humanitarian crises unfolded with hundreds of thousands of cases of the potentially deadly virus being confirmed each day.
