Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford were not included in Manchester United's match-day squad to take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday night.
Ronaldo, 36, was forced to miss Monday's FA Cup win over Villa with a small muscular problem.
And the Portuguese star failed to recover for Saturday's Premier League encounter at Villa Park.
Out-of-form Rashford was also a notable absentee from the 23-man squad.
A section of United fans rounded on Rashford during Monday’s FA Cup win over Aston Villa but interim boss Ralf Rangnick had vowed to stand by the forward.
