Confirmed: The referee for EFL Cup final between Man Utd and Southampton

Andre Marriner will take charge of his second major English final after officiating Wigan Athletic's win over Man City in the FA Cup in 2013

Andre Marriner has been named as the referee for the EFL Cup final between Manchester United and Southampton.

Marriner, 46, will be assisted by Richard West and Stuart Burt at Wembley on February 26, with fellow Premier League referee Kevin Friend named the fourth official.

The Birmingham-born official was promoted to Premier League duty in 2004 and refereed the FA Cup final in 2013 between Manchester City and Wigan Athletic.

Marriner has shown 92 yellow cards and five red cards in 24 games in all competitions this season, though three of those dismissals came in one bad-tempered match between Panathinaikos and Ajax in the Europa League.
