Football clubs have made a passionate defence of their efforts to control the spread of Covid, despite the ongoing row over players' goal celebrations.
Sportsmail has spoken to club executives and Premier League officials, who are desperate to show they do treat the pandemic with deadly seriousness, and are committed to delivering the protocols aimed at limiting Covid transmission.
Clubs have revealed they face fines of up to £10,000 if they breach Premier League Covid protocols and staff and players are determined to do the right thing for the game, themselves and their families
But there is concern among clubs that despite meeting almost all of the requirements placed upon them and reminding players of the need to stay apart after goals, there may be 'lapses' that stem from the emotional response of elite athletes giving their all to the cause.
