Christophe Lollichon, their former first-team goalkeeping coach, was tasked with coming up with alternatives after Christmas as Begovic itches to be sold in January, it is understood.
Celtic’s Craig Gordon, 34, is believed to be among those Chelsea have looked at, though his contract with the Scottish champions does not expire until 2018.
Gordon is currently Celtic’s first-choice goalkeeper but is experienced in England, having played in the Premier League with Sunderland between 2007 and 2012.
