Chelsea will hand £230 each to the supporters their chartered train left stranded at a remote Liverpool station past midnight on Saturday night.
Almost 200 people faced not getting back to Euston Station until as late as 6.30am when Chelsea’s 8.40pm train from Liverpool South Parkway left for London despite leaving behind two shuttle buses full of travelling fans.
Replacement coaches did not arrive until the early hours.
And now Chelsea, who are still investigating the travel nightmare operated by travel partners Thomas Cook, have agreed a huge pay-out with the bill split by the club and the agency.
