Chelsea have failed in their bid to overturn the red card John Terry received in the FA Cup third round victory over Peterborough, the Football Association have confirmed.
Terry was sent off in the second half for a professional foul on Lee Agnol with referee Kevin Friend showing him a straight red card. The decision had little bearing on the result with the Blues running out 4-1 winners.
With replays appearing to show Terry tripping before making contact with Agnol, Chelsea believed they had a case to overturn the decision, which comes with a one-match ban rather than the usual three.
