Clubs from League One and Two have voted to continue with the Checkatrade Trophy in its current format for two more years and will again invite Premier League clubs to enter Under 21 teams.
There will be some slight changes but clubs overwhelmingly rejected the chance to revert to the competition in its original 48-team knock-out guise or scrap it completely.
Thirty two of the 48 clubs in League One and Two were in favour of keeping the regionalised group stage and to involve the U21 teams from Premier League and Championship clubs with Category One academies.
