Cenk Tosun ready to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku at Everton as £20m striker explains how Sam Allardyce convinced him to leave Champions League outfit Besiktas for Merseyside

Cenk Tosun is ready to become Romelu Lukaku's replacement as he explained why he turned his back on the Champions League for Everton.

The Turkey international became Everton's first signing of this window, having arrived from Besiktas in a deal worth more than £20million, and made his debut in last Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Tottenham at Wembley. It was not, he says, an experience he will recall with any fondness.

That game, though, has not dampened his enthusiasm for starting 'a new mission' in England and he was only too happy to leave Besiktas — therefore losing the chance to face Bayern Munich in the last 16 — after Sam Allardyce let Tosun know how much he wanted to sign him.
