Brentford have taken former Newcastle winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni on trial as they weigh up a move late in the transfer window.
The 22-year-old lined up for the Bees in a friendly win over Bournemouth on Tuesday and is hoping to impress for the Championship outfit as he looks to earn a contract.
Football League clubs have until Friday to sign unattached players, and with free agent El-Mhanni having grown up close to Griffin Park he remains hopeful of securing a move closer to his boyhood home.
Newcastle released the wideman in March after he was involved in a racism row with Peter Beardsley - the Magpies' Under-23 coach - though the club did rule in the player's favour after an investigation.
