USA captain Tyler Adams has pulled out of upcoming international duty after sustaining a hamstring injury in Leeds training this week.
The Premier League club revealed the news just an hour before the USA team was set to be released, with the midfielder's injury a huge blow to interim boss Anthony Hudson.
The US face two CONCACAF Nations League games against Grenada and El Salvador, but they will have to do it without one of their Premier League stars.
It was not revealed how long Adams is expected to be out of action for.
