Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has become the first Premier League boss to declare he would be open to signing a gay player.
Ex-Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger came out in 2014 following former Leeds winger Robbie Rogers' announcement the previous year.
However there are currently no openly gay footballers playing professionally in England and there has never been a Premier League player who is actively gay.
Despite the stigma that still exists over homosexuality in English football Bournemouth boss Howe insists he would have no problem with changing that statistic.
