Borussia Dortmund remain hopeful they can complete a deal for Birmingham youngster Jude Bellingham despite the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis.
The Bundesliga club were competing with Manchester United to sign Bellingham, who does not turn 17 until June 29, at the end of the season, and were confident of winning the race.
The Covid-19 pandemic has already had a huge impact on the finances of football, which is likely only to increase: Dortmund were among the clubs whose players offered to take a short-term pay cut in the absence of competitive football, though the Bundesliga had hoped to resume matches behind closed doors from next month.
