'Arsenal need to spend £250m to compete' - Parlour sounds warning to Wenger successor

The former Gunners midfielder believes substantial investment will be required this summer to bring about a reversal in fortune at Emirates Stadium

Whoever comes in to replace at Arsene Wenger at Arsenal will require a summer transfer kitty of £250 million ($339m) in order to make the club competitive, claims Ray Parlour.

As the Gunners prepare to open a new chapter in north London, with a long-serving manager heading for the exits, much work is required in order to bring about a reversal in fortune.

The club have slipped to sixth in the Premier League and, having failed to secure major silverware, are facing up to another season without Champions League football.
