Architect behind stunning designs for Everton's new £500m stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock LEAVES the project... but club 'insist plans remain on course ahead of planning decision'

The architect behind the acclaimed designs for Everton's proposed new stadium has called his departure from the project 'one the greatest disappointments of my career' after the club handed architectural work to UK firm Pattern while awaiting a decision on the planning application.

Dan Meis, who spoke of his pride after unveiling plans for the Bramley-Moore Dock project to fans in a series of meetings opposite Goodison Park, has now admitted he is 'not currently engaged' in the scheme to create the 52,888-seater stadium.

'Let me be clear – I am fully confident that Bramley-Moore will be built,' the self-declared 'hater of rules' announced on Twitter, emphatically distancing himself from the initiative.
