Alan Shearer insists snubbing Manchester United for boyhood club Newcastle was the 'best decision I ever made' after the former striker was inducted into the Premier League's Hall of Fame

Alan Shearer has insisted joining boyhood club Newcastle over Manchester United in 1996 was the 'best decision' he ever made.

The former England striker is one of the first players to be inducted into the Premier League's Hall of Fame alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on Monday.

Following his accolade, Shearer reflected on his successful career and remains adamant it was the right call to return home rather than chase glory with the Red Devils.
