After drafting 7-foot-2 rookie Donovan Clingan with the No. 7 pick in June’s NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers will enter the upcoming season with a logjam at the center position.
Portland’s center rotation goes four-deep with Clingan, Deandre Ayton, Robert Williams III and Duop Reath. That cram for minutes has led national and local media, as well as readers on this site to speculate some sort of trade is coming down the line.
On Friday’s episode of ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst’s podcast, “The Hoop Collective,” Windhorst and ESPN colleagues Tim Bontemps and Tim MacMahon added to that speculation by calling Williams the most likely trade candidate of the group.
