Warriors Stomp Blazers in Sobering Season Opener

The shine of the Portland Trail Blazers’ preseason pasting of the Utah Jazz wore off fast Wednesday night at the Moda Center. The visiting Golden State Warriors stomped the Blazers, ending the game midway through the third quarter on their way to a 139-104 win.

The performance marked the largest season-opening loss in Portland franchise history and led Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups to talk about effort and focus after Game 1 of 82.

“They beat us in every facet, man,” Billups said at the postgame press conference. “Every loose ball, they were the first team to the floor.
