The Portland Trail Blazers franchise has been valued at $1.6 billion, good for 14th in the NBA. Kurt Badenhausen and Mike Ozanian of Forbes authored the site’s annual valuation of NBA franchises, which points out that the league is faring incredibly well this year.
The average NBA team is worth $1.9 billion, up 13% over last year and three times the level of five years ago.
$1.6 billion represents a 23% year-over-year increase for the Blazers. Only the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks fared better. None of those franchises approaches the lofty heights of the New York Knicks, valued at $4 billion.
