Assistant coach to the Portland Trail Blazers David Vanterpool has been mentioned as an interview target for the Phoenix Suns coaching vacancy, reports Shams Charania of the Athletic. In recent days, Vanterpool’s name has come up in other coaching vacancies, but Phoenix is the first to ask permission for an interview.
First two coaches whom the Phoenix Suns will request permission to interview for head coach opening: Philadelphia assistant Monty Williams and Portland assistant David Vanterpool, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Vanterpool’s name has also been floated as a possibility for the Cleveland Cavaliers vacancy.
