The Portland Trail Blazers added another big man to challenge for a roster spot. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Portland will sign NBA veteran Greg Stiemsma to a training camp deal on Monday.
Stiemsma is not a typical training camp signee. He is not a young, undrafted talent eager to make an NBA roster, such as Tim Quarterman. Stiemsma is actually turning 31 years old this month and has 203 NBA games under his belt. Stiemsma recorded NBA minutes on four different teams in four consecutive years from 2011-2014.
The signing of the 6’11” center out of Wisconsin could actually be a red flag in Festus Ezeli’s knee recovery.
