The Portland Trail Blazers enter the Summer of 2025 looking to improve their roster, continuing the rebuild they started a couple of seasons ago. With no cap space to speak of and only one major draft pick in play, the Blazers could look to the NBA trade market to accelerate their growth.
NBA writer Marc Stein underlined that potential in his latest Stein Line substack [subscription required]. Though most of the newsletter involved the Phoenix Suns and Atlanta Hawks, Portland got a mention at the end.
After referencing the contract extensions the Blazers gave General Manager Joe Cronin and Head Coach Chauncey Billups in the last two weeks, Stein connected Portland to the league-wide trading field:
Now we await what sort of trade activity Cronin has in mind as well as his potential offseason spending after he chose not to sign any free agents last summer.
