Sports Illustrated Ranks McCollum's Rookie Extension Second Best in 2013 Draft Class

The NBA's deadline to sign fourth-year players to a contracts extension passed Monday night, as teams shelled out $682 million for players drafted in 2013.

Just as they'd done in the summer of 2015 with two-time All-Star Damian Lillard, the Portland Trail Blazers and president of basketball operations Neil Olshey were proactive in the process, signing combo guard CJ McCollum to an extension through the 2020-21 season back in July. McCollum had breakout season in 2015-16, his first as a starter, averaging 20.8 points per game to win the KIA NBA Most Improved Player award. The Lehigh product and Canton, Ohio native continues to flourish this season, shooting 50% from behind the three-point line over the Blazers' first five games of the season.
