When Portland Trail Blazers point guard Scoot Henderson scores during home games, the Moda Center loudspeakers usually blare the opening 10 seconds of Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams’ “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Heavy, pounding drumbeats lead into a head-bobbing drum machine and tongue clicks, overlaid by singing of SNOOOOOOOOOOP — apt for the second-year guard because it sounds awfully similar to SCOOOOOOOOOOT.
During Portland’s 132-114 home loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, fans heard the catchy scoring drop a lot (seven times by this writer’s count) as Henderson played one of the best games of his young career.
