Yesterday we got the news that the Portland Trail Blazers family had lost one of their icons, center Bill Walton, who passed away from cancer at the age of 71. Walton was the first transcendent superstar in Trail Blazers lore, the leader of the team that brought Portland their only NBA Championship. He would go on to win a second title with the Boston Celtics late in his career, then become a nationally-known broadcaster behind his quick wit and propensity to say almost anything that came to mind. Walton was a unique figure in NBA history and will be missed.
