The Portland Trail Blazers added a big man on Thursday and had to lose another in the process.
The Blazers waived second-year forward Cliff Alexander to make room for newly acquired center Festus Ezeli, a source confirmed to The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical first reported the move.
Portland signed Ezeli to a two-year, $16 million contract on Thursday, giving the team 16 players on the roster, one over the maximum allowed of 15.
Alexander's contract for 2016-17 did not become fully guaranteed until July 25 so the Blazers are not on the hook for his salary this season.
