Today, former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, 78, died due to complications with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia according to a statement released by the Jazz. Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard responded on Twitter.
Lillard attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, 33 miles north of Salt Lake City. Lillard played for Weber State from 2008 to 2012 while Sloan was still coaching the Jazz.
In a his 2016 rap song called “Wasatch Front”—the name of a northern Utah community—Lillard reminisces on his time at Weber State and his desire to play for Sloan.
