Larry Weinberg, the original owner of the Portland Trail Blazers, has died at the age of 92. His passing was noted locally by Willamette Week after a statement from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Weinberg owned the team from its inaugural season in 1970, becoming sole owner in 1975. He sold the franchise to late owner Paul Allen in 1988. Weinberg’s tenure include Portland’s only NBA Championship in 1977.
