Portland Trail Blazers fans, and players, were crushed when Ed Davis signed his one-year, $4.4 million contract this summer with the Brooklyn Nets. Davis was beloved in Portland not only for his incredible effort and elite rebounding, but for his locker room presence and leadership. The Brooklyn Nets wanted him for those same reasons, having finally added a few good young pieces, like big man Jarrett Allen, but needing mentors. Michael Scotto of The Athletic (subscription required) got Davis’ thoughts on his role with the Nets:
