The NBA is about to take a serious look at how and when it might expand on the league’s existing 30 teams, according to a new ESPN report.
NBA Insiders Tim Bontemps, Kevin Pelton and Brian Windhorst reported that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver provided an update on possible expansion last week.
At the annual fall board of governors meeting last week in New York, Silver said expansion would be discussed by the league ”at some point this season,” though not just yet.
While no clear timelines were provided, the likelihood of new teams entering the league could happen well before the end of the decade.
