Phoenix Suns Head Coach Monty Williams earned Coach of the Year honors from the National Basketball Coaches Association for his stellar work in the 2020-21 regular season. ESPN’s Marc Spears delivered the news on Tuesday.
Phoenix Suns Head Coach Monty Williams is the 2021 recipient of the Michael H. Goldberg NBCA Coach of the Year Award, the National Basketball Coaches Association announced today.
Williams, who served on coach Nate McMillan’s staff with the Trail Blazers for five seasons, guided the Suns to a 51-21 record this year.
HBCA’s honor serves as a marker in Williams’ successful journey back to coaching following the tragic death of his wife back in 2016.
