The Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving was diagnosed with a torn ACL Tuesday, prematurely ending his season. The All-Star guard suffered the injury in the first quarter in a game against the Sacramento Kings. After his exit, the Kings dominated the Mavs for a 122-98 victory. He had been averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
This adds to the Mavericks’ injury woes; the freshly-acquired Anthony Davis suffered an adductor injury in his first game with the team, and his status is still uncertain but the Mavs are hopeful he’ll return this season. Also, Jaden Hardy exited with an ankle sprain last night and is expected to be out for a while.
