Longwood University to Dedicate Court in Honor of Late Jerome Kersey

Longwood University, alma mater of Trail Blazers legend Jerome Kersey, announced this week plans to name a basketball court in the late NBA star's honor on December 3 during a pre-game ceremony at the university's Willett Hall.

Kersey starred at Longwood from 1980-84, earning First-Team NABC Division II All-American honors in 1983 and 1984. The 6-7, 215 lb. was then drafted by the Trail Blazers in 1984 and played 10 seasons in Portland, helping the Blazers to two NBA Finals appearances in 1990 and 1992. Kersey retired in 2001 after 17 seasons in the NBA and stints with the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Seattle Supersonics, San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks.
