The 63rd annual Oregon Sports Awards took place at the Nike head quarters in Beaverton last night. The Portland Trail Blazers’ LaMarcus Aldridge, although absent from the event, won the Harry Glickman Professional Athlete of the Year award. The award was accepted on his behalf by Director of Player Programs and former Trail Blazer Hersey Hawkins.
Hawkins: I’ve had the good fortune of working with LaMarcus for the last five seasons and he’s a tremendous young man. He wanted to be here tonight, but due to a scheduling conflict he just couldn’t make it, but he wanted me to tell everybody how grateful he is to win this award.
