NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has made it a point to reduce strain on players this season by softening each team’s schedule to include fewer back-to-back games and fewer sets of four games in five nights. He has managed to do this without extending the season in any way, but that does limit the short-term effectiveness of the reform. Right now, the adjustments can be considered baby steps, as they are rather minor on the whole.
Per Jeff Zillgitt, USA Today:
- Back-to-backs have been reduced to 17.8 per team for 2015-16, down from 19.
