The Boston Celtics added depth to their post rotation for the playoff push by signing experienced big man Greg Monroe. According the The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the two sides agreed to a 10-day contract on Friday. Monroe, a 28-year-old veteran center, hasn’t appeared on the court since the Raptors cut ties with him prior to the All-Star break.
For the Celtics, Monroe will provide added depth until Aron Baynes recovers from his current ankle injury. Prior to departing Toronto, the former Georgetown standout had appeared in 38 games with two starts in the 2018-19 season.
