Former King Philip Regional standout Jake Layman saw his dreams come true Thursday night when he was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 47th overall pick in the second round.
Layman, a small forward and Wrentham native, spent his collegiate years at Maryland. As a junior, Layman was a Third-team All-Big Ten selection, and this past season he received Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and media.
During his junior season, Layman helped lead Maryland to the NCAA tournament for the first time in five years.
Prior to his time at Maryland, Layman played AAU basketball with the Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) and captivated the Hockomock League with his explosive play for King Philip.
