A collective groan was uttered yesterday when the Portland Trail Blazers announced Robert Williams III had suffered a minor hamstring strain. The news came five days after he told the world he was close to a return from a knee injury that kept him out of 76 games in 2023-24.
But while the news of the grade 1 strain was disappointing, it wasn’t necessarily concerning. The prognosis is two weeks — two and a half weeks out from opening night. He’ll miss the preseason with a likely return during the first or second week of the regular season, assuming no further setbacks.
