The Portland Trail Blazers announced new forward Deni Avdija won’t play in Friday’s preseason opener against the LA Clippers in Seattle due to personal reasons.
Avdija announced on Instagram that he will miss the game in observance of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur. The holiday begins Friday at sundown and ends at nightfall on Saturday.
Avdija should be available to make his Blazers debut on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings on the road.
The Blazers acquired Avdija from the Washington Wizards this summer in a draft-day trade for guard Malcolm Brogdon and draft capital.
