Journalist Wayne Thompson will be remembered in a celebration of life in the Georgia-Pacific Room at Veteran's Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m.
A reception will follow at Dr. Jack's in the Rose Quarter.
Thompson covered sports, politics, energy issues and home electronics, and was the sports editor and an associate editor during 37 years at The Oregonian before retiring in 2001.
He was The Oregonian's first beat reporter for the Blazers.
He had a long association with the team after leaving sports writing.
Thompson also was a freelance music writer, an original member of the Jazz Journalists Association and editor/publisher of the Jazz Society of Oregon's "Jazzscene Magazine" from 1987-2006.
